Finally, i found the 1 and only method to chit chat online in Chartered....

TAT IS thru...

Tats rite! Facebook! The most unexpected way to chit chat while working since the company restricted access to every available online chit chatting methods. Luckily, they missed out Facebook...

Finally my 1st week of work came to an end on this fantastic friday. After 1 week at work, i really cant distinguish who is in fact a real Singaporean in Chartered. In fact i suspect 90% in Chartered r foreigners. Everywhere i go...i can hear ppl speaking in a strange chinese ascent or even worse (unknown language). Either the Singaporeans there r trying to blend in wif the foreigners by imitating their ascent or best still...they r already converted to foreigners jus by being in the company.

Jus by going to Chartered everyday is equivalent to going overseas everyday. The ones i can fully assure they r Singaporeans will be the HR personnels since they speak the most proper english. Even the IT helpdesk i call up for help got a strange half indian half dunno wat sai ascent.
I guess tats the fate of engineers in Singapore now. Working in engineering companies in Singapore = working in overseas. So y go overseas to find jobs? Join Chartered to experience a brand new overseas experience la!!

'Fantastic' 1st 2 days in Chartered...

1st Day:
HR collected the documents frm us & left a few of us rotting at the sofas. Until 10.30am then a person came to fetch us to our department. Estimated rotting timing to be ard 1.5hrs...
When we reach the department then they told me my supervisor will not be ard till next week.
This means my por-ing regime will commence only next week. As expected, the ppl surrounding me r all foreigners. Best still...the other IA student turned out to be a viet cong.

2nd Day:
The head of my supervisor came to work. I had tot tat he would be a difficult person to entertain but it turned out to be the opposite man. He actually came to talk to us, introducing all of the colleagues to us, n even chit chat to us abt wat project we will be doing. Even though he is a PRC, he still managed to explain quite well, making sure we understand wat we shall be handling soon. He even made the effort to bring us ard to the labs (which he can bochup if he wans to).

After 2 days of work, my slping regime finally went back to normalcy. 10-11pm by hook or by crook have to slp, next morning 6am have to wake up to prepare myself. Going to maintain this regime (fri & sat excluded). Fantastic mann!!

Today i met up with a financial consultant who helped me analysed my finance and insurance. It turned out my Prudential insurance is not really fantastic afterall. Regretted getting it in the 1st place but i have to llst till i reach 45yrs old since i had invested in it for 3yrs already.

He showed me how i shld do my financial planning in an orderly manner. Definitely!! What he showed me is definitely the same as what JiuBin posted in his blog as shown below...but he explained it with much details after reviewing my insurance portfolios. Basically, the Prudential plan tat i had invested is actually an endowment insurance, which means i m not protected for life. When the insurance matures, i m no longer protected. This totally skipped the step of wealth protection! Besides tat, Prudential gives one of the lowest returns as compared to most other insurance companies according to a statistics that he showed me. Too late to regret...

Figure koped from http://binfin.blogspot.com/

My best advice for all will be to have either life or term life insurance.

Today i went for an IA interview at Chartered Semiconductor. Took bus 161 to Woodlands interchange & changed to bus 178. Nv expected to pass by a mosque where so many m***** suddenly board the bus. When i look down the bus there was this big dark brownish crowd at the busstop. Luckily not all board the bus, if not have to endure the journey with them. (Sorry for being racist due to my childhood memories)

After the interview i can 100% confirm tat i will get the job. The interviewer even asked if i m prepared to start work earlier mayb ard june. Of cos my ans is YES. Fantastic resume for me, jus that the location damn ULU & near to Johor.
